Candice Bruder
Pure Sweat + Float Studio

Pure Sweat + Float Studio (PSFS) and Pure Sweat Sauna Studio are conceptualized and founded by Candice Bruder, an operator with over a decade of public relations expertise, specializing in positioning, launching and promoting businesses in the luxury lifestyle, travel, entrepreneurial and real estate fields.

Candice Bruder is a former Senior Vice President at one of NYC's most influential, boutique PR firms, Nadine Johnson & Associates, where she led the real estate department. In addition, she led media relations for Dom Pérignon, representing the champagne brand’s elite tastemaker events and activations around the world, including Art Basel Miami.

Prior to NJA, Ms. Bruder was a Vice President at MWW, where she led media relations for a variety of industry leaders, including Superfly Presents (founders of Bonnaroo), Related Companies (one of the largest real estate developers in the world), Time Warner Center (NYC), Hudson Yards (NYC), Eventbrite, Travelzoo, and Luxury Retreats.

In July 2016, Ms. Bruder resigned from her position with NJA to focus exclusively on developing and launching Pure Sweat + Float Studio, a one-of-a kind wellness spa offering infrared saunas and float therapy. She opened the Studio in May 2017 in Belle Meade and franchised the Studio one year later. Pure Sweat + Float Studio, Cool Springs, the company’s first franchisee, opened in October 2018, and its second franchise opened in Brentwood, TN in February 2020. In December 2019, Ms. Bruder launched Pure Sweat Sauna Studio – an infrared sauna lounge – in Nashville’s 12thSouth, bringing the company portfolio to 4 studios in 2.5 years.

Ms. Bruder moved to Nashville from New York City in 2015, where she resides with her family. She has been a sauna enthusiast for years, a frequent patron of the iconic Russian and Turkish Bathhouse in NYC where her love for a deep “shvitz” began. Ms. Bruder has since received tremendous joy contributing to Nashville’s wellness community, recognizing the importance of balance and self- care as vital components to a happy and successful life. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a B.A. in Journalism and Women's Studies.

What is a personal piece of advice (business advice/saying/quote) that you lean on
and could pass on to others?

As it relates to COVID...

Crisis beckons opportunity ~ to see what shows up in you ~ and to rise.

Find gratitude + shift your definition of success - both of which will lead to an abundant mindset.

These have been my personal mantras of 2020, and they have served me well. I could go into great detail about both!

Best business book you’ve ever read?
I don't really read business books. I listen intently to others and to my intuition, where I gather my greatest insights and connect the dots.

One misstep you took in your business that you could caution others about?
There really is no glaring misstep at this time. But I have evolved considerably with boundaries, structure, team accountability, and setting expectations since becoming an entrepreneur - which are all vital for my growth.

How to you de-stress after a particularly hard day?
Well, my business is all about de-stressing! Nothing clears my mind like floating. I also do nightly steam showers in the dark.

Have you come up with any creative social activities in 2020 that you would like to share?
I played a lot of backgammon with my family during closure... and have continued living life since. I am more afraid of not living life than I am of COVID.

What’s something about you that would surprise everyone reading this?
I had no small business or industry experience before founding Pure Sweat + Float Studio. But, I had a clear vision and instinct that inspired me to make the leap.

What EO benefit has been most valuable to you during these uncertain times?
A trustworthy space to share with peers who “get it!”
