1.  Belmont Joint Event - Chip Conley - Airbnb

The Belmont University Executive Learning Network presents Chip Conley, Head of Global Hospitality and Strategy of Airbnb, CEO of Joie de Vivre Hospitality.  Chip is a New York Times bestselling author and hospitality entrepreneur.  At age 26, the founder of Joie de Vivre Hospitality took an inner city motel and turned it into the 2nd largest boutique hotel brand in the world.  After being CEO of his innovative company for 24 years, Chip accepted an invitation from the founders of Airbnb to help transform their promising home sharing start-up into the world's largest hospitality brand.  In four years as Head of Global Hospitality & Strategy, he taught his award-winning methods to hundreds of thousands of Airbnb hosts and created the world-renowed Airbnb Open. 


2.  Operation EO- Salvation Army Angel Tree
December 15, 2018,12:15pm- 4:00pm, Salvation Army Warehouse, 530 Donelson Pike

Operation EO is looking for 30 jolly elves to sort, organize and tag angel tree gifts for the Salvation Army.  The Angel Tree Program is a Christmas Assistance program for families who need help providing gifts and basic needs to their children at Christmas.  Families are registered in October, and children and seniors are placed for adoption on the Angel Tree in November.  This is a great service project to involve your children -ages 12 and up are welcome to fill one of our spots.  As volunteers, you will be doing various tasks in the warehouse such as sorting, organizing, and tagging Angel Tree gifts for Salvation Army family recipients, so that their gifts can be located during distribution day.  

Please note that upon registration, you are committing yourself and any family members/guest to volunteering for the entire block from 12:15pm-4:00pm.   We must fulfill our commitment for this incredible holiday program!  


3.  Sandra Joseph - Unmasking What Matters - 10 Life Lessons from 10 Years on Broadway
January 8, 2019, 6:00pm-9:30pm, Clementine, 4710 Charlotte Avenue

Plan for an evening with your spouse to learn from Sandra Joseph, longest running leading lady in Broadway's longest running show Phantom of the Opera and a best selling author.
Sandra pulls back the curtain in her one of a kind combination of songs and stories from her legendary career.  She will reveal pivotal experiences and epiphanies that led to enduringly meaningful success both on and off the stage. Her provocative stories, insight, and exercise will unmask your own perspectives about life, work, love, loss, courage, perseverance and what matters most.  Dinner will also be served!

In the News:

Rebecca Donner [Inner Design Studio] was interviewed in Buildings and Interiors and Sources podcasts about the considerations that must go into designing a healthcare facility. Surface and Panel’s print edition featured the business’s use of surface products in its facilities. The Williamson Source and Business Williamson featured Inner Design Studio for creating and funding a scholarship for a student in the O’More School of Design at Belmont University.

Bernard Health [Alex Tolbert] was mentioned in InvestmentNews for a team member offering tips on Medicare open enrollment and in a Richmond Times-Dispatch article about how to reduce what you pay for your employer’s health insurance. Insure.com featured tips from a Bernard Health team member on short-term health insurance.

Seth Argo [Focus Builders] shared tips with Freshome on what to focus on when buying a home and Nashville Interiors on making the most of your outdoor space.

The Nashville Entrepreneur Center [Michael Brody-Waite] was mentioned in the Nashville Business Journal for housing a local startup company when it moved to town. The center was mentioned by Judith Bright in a different Nashville Business Journal article as a place for businesswomen to get involved in the local business community. The Tennessee Tribune featured the Nashville Entrepreneur Center for its NEXT Awards, and the Nashville Business Journal mentioned the center in an article about its former CEO. The Brentwood Home Page and the Nashville Ledger referenced the entrepreneur center in an article about TEDxNashvilleWomen for its vice president of operations’ participation in the event.

Josephine [Jim Lewis] celebrated five years of fine dining with a feature in the Nashville Scene.

Wiliamson Source reported that Tom Forrest [Taillight TV] is set to produce and direct “Amy Grant’s Tennessee Christmas - Presented by the Hallmark Channel,” an hour-long special that will be filmed live in Franklin, Tennessee on December 3.

REBusinessOnline and WOKV reported that Bristol Development Group [Ashley Hines] has partnered with Hallmark Partners to develop Vista Brooklyn, a mixed-use project in Jacksonville, Florida.

Sounds Like Nashville featured The Green Pheasant [Patrick Burke] for offering a new lunch option to downtown Nashville. Two Ten Jack was listed on Eater Nashville as a place to eat ramen noodles in Nashville.

Sounds Like Nashville listed Smokin’ Thighs [Matthew Carney], Bastion [Benjamin and Max Goldberg] and Corsair Distillery [Darek Bell] as places to eat and drink in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood.

Greko Greek Street Food [Tony Darsinos] was mentioned in a People blog post for catering Scott and Jaclyn Stapp’s son’s first birthday celebration.

The Tennessean interviewed Charles Robert Bone [Bone McAllester Norton] about the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency’s significant incentives to developers, which has sparked economic activity and transformed downtown Nashville.

Core Development [Mark Deutschmann] was featured in the Nashville Business Journal for listing for sale an undeveloped site near the Fairgrounds. The Nashville Post referenced Village Real Estate Services for handling the marketing and sale of a new Midtown condominium building, which will begin construction in early 2019. A different Nashville Post article mentioned Core Development’s announcement for a future mixed-use building in Wedgewood-Houston and Village Real Estate Services for managing the marketing and sale of the units.

Edley’s Bar-B-Que [Will Newman] was mentioned in a Nashville Scene article about a contest on Nashville’s best hot chicken. Pancho and Lefty’s Cantina was mentioned in News Channel 5 for its commitment to getting patrons home safely on New Years Eve.

The Nashville Scene featured Austin Ray and M.L. Rose [A. Ray Hospitality] in an article about the growth of Nashville’s beer scene. The Nashville Post and Nashville Scene highlighted that M.L. Rose’s 10th anniversary is coming up. All of Austin Ray’s restaurants participated in a Giving Tuesday event for the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, according to another Nashville Scene article. Another Nashville Post article mentioned M.L. Rose’s location in the new Capitol View development.

The Nashville Soccer Club’s [Chris Redhage] returning players for the 2019 season were highlighted in a Tennessean article. The Nashville Business Journal shared the news that the club’s inaugural CEO is leaving. The club was also mentioned in an HITC article about one of its former players transferring teams.

Smith Gee Studio [Hunter Gee] was featured in the Nashville Post for designing a new two-story office building in Germantown set to begin construction in March.

Thrillist listed the Patterson House [Benjamin and Max Goldberg] as one of the best speakeasy-style bars in Nashville. The Catbird Seat was featured in the food critics podcast Dining Out Loud. Robb Report and Eater San Francisco mentioned the Catbird Seat in reference to the restaurant’s former chef. Forbes mentioned the restaurant for its chef’s previous participation in a Washington, D.C. restaurant’s chef collaboration series. The Catbird Seat was referenced as a chef’s-counter restaurant in a 5280 Magazine article about the opening of a new Denver eatery. Merchants was listed in San Francisco’s KRON4 about the author’s recent trip to Nashville. Merchants was also listed in WKRN and the Nashville Scene as a restaurant open on Thanksgiving. A cocktail at Bastion was included in a list of great tequila cocktails in Your Tango. A Bastion bartender suggested his favorite distillery in Uproxx and his favorite brewery in another Uproxx piece. The dining experience at Henrietta Red was featured in the Los Angeles Times and Greensboro’s News and Record. The restaurant was also mentioned in Chowhound for the chef-owner offering tips on throwing a last-minute dinner party.

Sam’s Sports Bar [Sam Sanchez] and Grille was featured in a News Channel 5 broadcast for holding a coat drive for foster kids in Tennessee. WKRN shared a list of restaurants that were open on Thanksgiving Day, including Sperry’s.

John Sharpe [StaffSource] was quoted in WSMV about Amazon’s effect on the city.

The Tennessean included Brilliant Sky Toys & Books [William Lee] in a list of places to buy toys in Nashville this holiday season.

Redpepper [Tim McMullen] was featured in Vision System Design for its development of a machine-learning software and robotic arm which can find “Waldo” in under five seconds.

The Nashville Post mentioned Noble Constructors [Daniel Brimer] for handling the construction of a new Bento Box bar in Chestnut Hill.

Greg Luken [Luken Investment Analytics] was quoted in CNBC and CNBC Make It about what the near future holds for tech stocks.
