She is a recipient of the Nashville Business Journal’s Women of Influence award in the Entrepreneur category in 2019. 

What is a personal piece of advice (business advice/saying/quote) that you lean on and could pass on to others?

It has taken me a very long time to come to this, however, I believe I do know what I am doing! At least in my Industry. I have strengths, and weaknesses, and accept both. I have thought that my weaknesses have been something that was the focus. Once I did Strength Finders and learned that we can only, truly maximize our Strengths, I now am able to honor these in myself and others. If someone has not done their SF’s assessment I highly encourage them to do so. We use these at WholeCare, and are able to create roles based on these along with a couple of other assessments as well.

 Best business book you’ve ever read?

Strength Finders of course. And I do love to read Business books. It’s probably whatever I am reading at the moment as I get excited about what I am learning and want to execute on it right away since my #1 Strength is Activator!

 One misstep you took in your business that you could caution others about?

Oh my! There have been many. The most recent one was that I didn’t have enough conversations or ask the appropriate questions of someone I was considering working with. The Who process is extremely valuable and will help identify some pertinent situations that can be part of a discovery process. A very wise Woman told me to date for 4 seasons! And this applies in a professional working relationship as well.  From this point forward, before I have any conversations about formal agreements, I will spend at least one year working together to see if we are a collaborative match.

How to you de-stress after a particularly hard day?

I get coffee (decaf), put on some good music, come home to my fur babies, put on my pajamas, and watch something to distract me or read a book. Sometimes, if early enough, and warm enough I’ll go for a walk. I also journal in order to process the situation. I need to journal to get the information out of my head on to paper in order to understand the situation in it’s entirety.

 What EO event are you most looking forward to attending in the next few months?

I just returned from a Women of EO Retreat event in Ft. Lauderdale that was exceptional! And there is another one this fall in Gainesville. A couple of the Women there encouraged me to attend NERVE, and so that is the next one that I am really excited about. With that said however I really enjoy all of the Learning Events.

My experience with EO and the Educational events has been really good. Great job y’all! 

 Any exciting plans for Spring that you would like to share?    

I am excited about my new screened in deck project that will be completed this week, and I am looking forward to Spring and all of the gardening I’ll be doing.

Lots to do with a new deck and time to enjoy being outside more.
