Three Things for EO Nashville This Week

Who do you know for Catalyst? Our first event is less than 2 weeks away
We’re ready to kick-off our 8th CATALYST CLASS, and need your help! Think of your friends, neighbors, vendors, favorite restaurants, lawn company – you name it…and then CLICK HERE to refer them! You’d be hard pressed to think of ANY entrepreneur who wouldn’t benefit from this class.
Shoot them the brochure and invitation, and if you want to join them for the info session, register yourself on the EO site here – but don’t feel like you have to be there. (We’re having an informational session on Tuesday, July 24th from 5:30-7p.m. and then an alternate date for those who can’t make it then will be Tuesday, August 7th from 7:30-9a.m. – both at The EC.)
Every year we continue to tweak and make the program stronger and stronger! Did you know they now get a workbook? We host regular happy hours for bonding time…we have cracked the code for making the small group discussion productive and meaningful…we start each meeting with Michael interviewing a SAP and relating it back to the class…the list goes on.

2. MyEO Marketing Group
Marketing helps us tell our company’s story to the world. For those of us working IN the business, it IS our world. If you’re an EO Nashville marketing professional of any stripe…or you just want to hang out with some of the smartest and most attractive marketing professionals in Nashville, this MyEO group is for you. We’re going to get together, have a few sips of our favorite beverages, and talk about the biz. Click here to join! Our first happy hour is tentatively scheduled for August 10…more info to follow.

3. August House Parties
The Sutler Saloon, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
We will be hosting 4 Cocktail Parties in August- one for each House! But, these will be more than just your typical cocktail party! As you’ve likely heard, we really want to honor the fact that EO members are in different “lifecycles.” During your Cocktail Party, we will be dividing you into different life cycle groups so you’ll have the opportunity to talk with those facing the same challenges – and also look to those who’ve already made it to the other side! EO Member Spotlight

Rebecca Davis, JONDIE

Rebecca Davis has had a fascination with fashion and jewelry since she was a child playing “dress-up” in her grandmother’s vintage clothing and costume jewelry. As a teen she used some of her grandmother’s pieces and repurposed them into modern jewelry. She has a love of semi-precious stones and created more contemporary jewelry designs during her time in college, selling it to local boutiques. Her creative drive earned her a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a career as an award-winning graphic designer, but she never lost her love for fashion, antique jewelry and jewelry design. Fifteen years into her career as a Creative Director and print and web designer, she changed her focus and went full circle and back to her first love - fashion.

Rebecca launched JONDIE® in 2008. As her clientele base grew and word spread about her products, JONDIE® needed more space and in 2016, Rebecca moved JONDIE® into a larger location on Main Street in Franklin, TN. At the same time as the store renovation and move, she opened Mimi & Dottie® as a second boutique brand featuring her handmade jewelry in JONDIE’s original storefront on Main Street.

Rebecca is very proud of the team she has put together. Her professional staff brings extensive backgrounds in fashion, retail merchandising, design, branding, marketing and wardrobe styling. She feels she has a truly gifted team and everyone helps make JONDIE® stand out as a unique shopping experience. Her commitment to bringing the best of current trends and high quality products with new arrivals daily keeps people coming back often to shop and see what is new.

She has plans to scale her company - opening new stores in new markets over the next few years.

What is a personal piece of advice (business advice/saying/quote) that you lean on and could pass on to others?

Follow your intuition. I rely heavily on my gut instincts when forecasting trends, designing jewelry, creating our collections, selecting employees, etc. If something doesn’t feel right - I know it is not the best decision for me or for my business.

Best business book you’ve ever read?

The book that has made the biggest impact on me….. The Four Agreements. It is not really a business book, but I took so much out of it that I use every day - in business, with employees and in building relationships with my customers.

One misstep you took in your business that you could caution others about?

I have grown my business very intentionally and thankfully haven’t had any major missteps. I have over the last ten years, however, had occasional smaller ones. Like choosing the wrong product to offer in one of my boutiques or hiring a person that hasn’t been the best fit. I think this type of thing happens to a lot of entrepreneurs. What I have learned from these experiences is that if something isn’t working then I you need to address it and change things as soon as the issue arises. Learn from it and I don’t make the same mistake twice.

How to you de-stress after a particularly hard day?

If you do what you love you will rarely have a truly hard day. I do believe this! Many days are super busy and could be overwhelming - but I love it. One of my favorite things to do is to see a rock show - I have a love for music and I look forward to going to concerts. I also love the beach so I try to schedule a beach trip to get away and decompress for a few days two or three times a year.

What EO event are you most looking forward to attending in the next few months?

The Ford House cocktail party. As a new member of EO, I am looking forward to getting to know more people!

What’s something about you that would surprise everyone reading this?

I have met all 5 original members of Duran Duran.

Any exciting plans for summer that you would like to share?

I recently returned from 10 days on Captiva and Sanibel islands with my family. We had a great time and I spent much of my time on the beach - snorkeling and adding to my collection of sea shells.
