NBJ Editor Lori Becker lauded the power of EO in her 8/29 column, noting that EO members were well-represented in the NBJ Small Business Awards—and three of the four category winners were EO or Catalyst members: Dan Stephenson, Chris Redhage and David Frederiksen.

The Huffington Post praised Corsair’s [Darek Bell] experimental whiskeys in an article about the American Whiskey Trail. The Nashville Scene article on Bell’s new book “Fire Water: Experimental Smoked Whiskeys” applauded Bell’s passion and creativity. Entrepreneur magazine contributor Ryan Caldbeck named Corsair as one of the “25 Most Innovative Consumer and Retail Brands” in the country, according to the Nashville Business Journal. The high demand for Corsair’s whiskey is the topic of a WZKTV video. The New York Times article, “Raising a Glass to American Upstart Distillers,” toasts Corsair’s use of mixed botanicals. Candy Industry credited Corsair as the inspiration behind Olive and Sinclair’s bourbon brittle. Whisky Magazine crowned Corsair as “Innovator of the Year” and “Craft Distillery of the Year.” Whisky Advocate Magazine recognized Corsair’s triple crown as “Artisan Whiskey of the Year.”

 

Charlie Brock’s [Launch TN] article in  Memphis Business Journal recognized Start Co. as a champion of worldwide entrepreneurs who have pursued the accelerator program’s energizing community. Knoxville News Sentinel and Teknovation announced that The TENN, Launch TN’s master accelerator, opened up applications for the 2014 class.

The TennesseanNashville Business Journal and Nashville Post all covered Medalogix’s [Dan Hogan] latest investment news. Medalogix tripled its client base in the past year and has received $5M from Coliseum Capital Management.

RPM Transportation Consultants’ [Bob Murphy] study on changes for downtown Kingsport was mentioned in Kingsport TimesColumbia Daily Herald’s article about U.S. 31 said that the city had consulted RPM Transportation Consultants to explore ways to improve traffic conditions. The Nashville Post quoted Bob Murphy in an article about the renderings of new Green Hills apartments.

The Tennessean had an article on Express Employment Professionals [Jason Patrick] and other Dickson County business leaders who visited Oklahoma Dal-Tile plant.

The Nashville Scene recognized Emma’s [Clint Smith] Bistro in two articles and cited the communal workshop and meeting space as a comfortable and intimate place for performers. 

Bill Kimberlin [Medicare.com] completed the eighth largest Internet transaction with the sale of his domain name, Medicare.com, for $4.8 million dollars. When Kimberlin secured the domain name back in 2000, he viewed the purchase as an investment similar to real estate. He continues to own and run his business, Medx Publishing, and has set his sight on becoming more of an incubator for early-stage companies. Nashville Business Journal, Nashville Post and Upstart Business Journal all covered the story.

Tammy Hawes [Virsys12] was quoted in Insurance News Net’s article about Virsys12’s acquisition of Nashville-based Velox Consulting, LLC.

Alex Tolbert’s [Bernard Health] article in the Tennessean emphasized the inclusion of government, health insurance and health care professionals in the recent citizen-led initiative to engage the country in conversations about death.

The Nashville Business Journal and Nashville Post covered the transitions at Centresource [Nicholas Holland] as Evan Owens steps down as CEO to focus on Reboot Combat Recovery, a nonprofit launched in 2011.

Baystreet featured an article on 4Patriots’ [Allen Baler] new power generator.

The Tennessean announced that Cushman and Wakefield|Cornerstone [Brittany Lorenzi] will be the leasing agent for the multimillion dollar Central Parking headquarters renovation.

John Huber’s [Moo Creative Media] article in the Tennessean articulated the importance of teamwork in the creative process.

The Nashville Business Journal released a video on Bob Bernstein [Bongo Java] along with an article on Bernstein’s journey in Nashville, tracing his steps to becoming the owner of Nashville’s acclaimed coffee enterprise, Bongo Java.

Tom Turner [DSI] emphasized the importance of culture in retaining Millennial employees in an article in Business News Daily.

Your Houston News announced that Inquicker.com [Michael Brody-Waite] was adopted by Cypress Banks to reinvent their scheduling.

Sony Music Nashville’s official plans to relocate into Eakin Partners’ [Barry Smith] future Gulch development was featured in TennesseanNashville Postand Nashville Business Journal. Sony will share the coveted space with other high-profile tenants like William Morris and Neal & Harwell. The Tennessean mentioned Eakin Partners in an article about the downtown’s changing skyline.

 

 

The Tennessean mentioned Strategic Hospitality [Ben Goldberg] in an article about the $12M raised by Printers Alley partnership. Sheryl Crow named The Catbird Seat as one of her favorite Nashville spots in a Wine Enthusiast article. Nashville Business Journal and  Tennessean included Pinewood Social in a list of restaurants that sell Dozen Bakery products.

David Waddell [Waddell and Associates] described the economic and legal history of Hong Kong in his article in Memphis Daily News.

Nashville Eater named Miranda Whitcomb Pontes’ [Burger Up] newest venture, Prima, as one of the most anticipated restaurant openings.

The Tennessean article on coupon books included City Saver [Tom Beach] as a great way to find significant savings in Nashville.

Showhomes’ [Bert Lyles] home staging service was mentioned in KCRA.

The Nashville Scene had an article about the choreographer who is bringing her contemporary dance collective to OZ [Tim Ozgener].

The Nashville Ledger listed the Bone McCallester Norton lawyers who were included in The Best Lawyers in America 2015.
