NERVE 2020 News

There is a growing interest among members to have an opportunity to speak in areas beyond their chapter. This year for DC NERVE, a learning track is being developed which will allow members to share their success/failures/content with the region.  The format will be short, 30 min breakout sessions with Q&A, non-solicitation.  Any member in the East Region that is interested in submitting an informal “bid of interest” will be considered.  There will be 6 sessions in total.  

Your “bid of interest” must be submitted to no later than 1/30/2020 to Marion Long at ato4lyf@gmail.com.  Final selections will be made 30 days after the deadline.

At the 2019 NEXT Awards celebration, Core10 [Lee Farabaugh] was recognized for winning the Technology Startup award and Snapshot Interactive [Ben Rigsby and Mark Scrivner] won Entertainment, Sports and Media Market Mover, according to the Nashville Post

PollStar.com announced Moo TV [Scott Scovill] as a nominee for Best Concert Visuals at the 31st Annual Poll Star Awards.

Petra Coach [Andy Bailey] was featured in the Williamson Herald for its recent office upgrades. 

The Nashville Post released photos from the 2019 Next Awards and Entrepreneurs’ Hall of Fame celebration which featured:

David Trainer [New Constructs] was quoted in the Wall Street Journal about new accounting rules’ effect on the retail industry. He was also quoted in Benzinga about how key information can be hidden in earnings reports. 

PETA listed Nashville as one of the nation’s top 10 vegan-friendly cities, and featured Corsair Distillery [Darek Bell] for making its whiskey from quinoa. Bell was also mentioned as the owner of a SoBro site in a Nashville Post article about a nearby property that recently sold. 

Smith Gee Studio [Hunter Gee] was mentioned as the architect for a new East Nashville residential project called Lyric at Cleveland Park, according to the Nashville Post. The Nashville Post also announced that a Starbucks will be included in East Nashville’s Hill Center Greenwood project, which Smith Gee Studio will help develop. 

The Nashville Business Journal featured Nashville’s Veterans in Residence program, which Chalkline Sports [Joe Kustelski] cofounder and CEO Dan Kustelski used to connect with other entrepreneurs and discuss challenges his business faced.

Core Development [Mark Deutschmann] was referenced in the Nashville Business Journal for incorporating the term “Finery” in its Wedgewood-Houston properties.  

The Tennessean listed five things to watch for during the 2020 MLS Expansion Draft, in which the Nashville Soccer Club [Christopher Redhage] will participate. LAGalaxy.com announced that the Nashville Soccer club traded defender Dave Romney to the LA Galaxy in exchange for general allocation money. 

Henrietta Red [Ben and Max Goldberg] was mentioned in the New York Times for serving a new type of premium Gulf oyster. The Nashville Scene listed places to get Thanksgiving takeout in town and included Strategic Hospitality’s new catering company, The Party Line. The architecture firm behind Henrietta Red, Pinewood Social and The Catbird Seat was featured in the Nashville Business Journal and the Nashville Post for undergoing a change of ownership and business model. 

The Nashville Post announced that Wellview Health [James Story] reached a deal with Chick-fil-A to provide healthcare to more than 13,000 corporate employees. 

Uncle Classic Barbershop [Amy Tanksley] was mentioned by StyleBlueprint for volunteering to shave heads at a local school pep-rally to raise money and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Tennessee chapter. 

The Nashville Business Journal mentioned Archangel [Ken Thomas] as one of the largest veteran-owned businesses in Nashville. 

BerniePortal [Alex Tolbert] announced the launch of BernieU, an HR training resource for HR professionals and business owners, according to the Citizen Tribune.

The Vanderbilt Hustler featured Run Nash’s [Emmit Martin] half marathon which took place last weekend.
